Bull Tormented and Tortured to Death During Annual Festival

The Toro de la Vega festival is an annual event held each year in Tordesillas, Spain. Like many festivals, crowds of people look forward to the event and line the streets. But unlike many fests held around the world, this event is known for one particular tradition.

Each September, a young bull is released then chased through the streets by hundreds of people on foot and on horseback. As the bull runs for his life, he is stabbed with spears and darts. Severely injured and bleeding, his testicles and tail are cut off, often while he is still alive. The person who finally kills him is “awarded” a medal and a special iron spear.

Moscatel will be the bull at this year’s event, held on September 15th. The Party Animal Abuse Against Bullfighting organization is holding a protest condemning the gruesome event, on September 13th.
