Note To My Critics:

The links to the many sites that I've included contain information that I believe to be relevant, be it the graphics, the videos, the undercover investigations, etc. . Exposing & and ending the brutality and savagery inflicted on the non-human animals is what I am focused on. I strongly believe that every voice against animal abuse/exploitation is of value and -and- collectively we have the power to end it. I am here for the animals, not for anyone's approval and for that I make no apologies. ** I do not promote violence towards humans. ___________________________________________________ Bookmark and Share

Australia's hideously cruel treatment of newborn dairy calves

There is no stopping Australia's hideously cruel treatment of newborn dairy calves- and it's about to get worse!!!!!!

by Stephanie Dyer on Thursday, January 20, 2011 at 7:02am
To murder any animal is unspeakable but to murder newborn animals is beyond contempt......and to make the process as horrific as possible is just criminal..... Australia murders around 700 000 unwanted newborn dairy calves each year.....they are seen as wastage and treated as such....

'Bobby Calves' are the hidden, silent victims of the Dairy Industry. Within hours of being born (around 12 hours of age) they are taken from their mothers, then at the tender age of 4-5 days old, they are trucked to slaughter...if that isn't sick enough it's about to get worse...

The term ‘bobby calves’ means newborn calves that are less than two weeks old and not with their mothers.

In Australia over 700 000 bobby calves are sent to slaughter because they are simply unwanted, they are seen as nothing more than a by product of the dairy industry.  Dairy farmers see these newborn calves as a threat due to the fact they wan't to drink what farmers make their money from, and that is of course their mums Milk.... Milk which is meant for baby cows, not for humans...

When trucked from farms to saleyards, and of course eventually to their final destination being murderhouses, they are treated in the most horrific ways. These little calves that can barely stand on their little wobbly legs, are dragged, kicked, thrown and belted around, yes this is how most unwanted dairy calves are treated.

Products from processed calves include young veal for human consumption, valuable hides for leather and byproducts for the pharmaceutical industry.

"Just when we thought the treatment of these newborn calves couldn't get any worse, it's about to"

TO TAKE THESE BABIES FROM THEIR MOTHERS IS SICK ENOUGH BUT TO MURDER THEM IS SIMPLY UNSPEAKABLE, AND TO MAKE THE PROCESS SO UNBELIEVABLY HORRIFIC IS SIMPLY INDEFENSIBLE ON ALL LEVELS...

The Australian Dairy Industry, in conjunction with the University of Melbourne and the Department of Primary Industries, has decided that murdering these babies is not enough, no they want the process to be as dreaful as possible for newborn calves.  Industry members have put forward a submission which will see already abused calves denied feed for up to 30hrs. During this 30hrs these babies will be carted around on trailers and trucks and end up at murderhouses. The Australian Dairy Industry has already stated that newborn calves deteriorate after being denied feed for up to 24hrs, however the industry now plans on ensuring these babies are not fed for up to 30hrs, all the while knowing these calves will of course suffer greatly. The Australian Dairy Industry and the Australian government is showing yet again the utter contempt it has for these innocent little victims, victims which are simply seen and treated as rubbish in Australia.

BOBBY CALVES DENIED FEED FOR UP TO 30HRS

Dear Ministers and other relevant parties

I have recently learnt that Australian newborn dairy calves (bobby calves) may soon be treated with even more contempt than they are now, and I am of course horrified by this as I imagine any decent human being will be.

It has been brought to my attention that a submission asking that bobby calves be denied feed for up to 30hrs, may be accepted in the very near future. I believe this to be outrageously unethical and deplorable.

One has to ask why the Australian Dairy Industry and the Australian government would want to inflict further abuse and suffering, upon already abused 4-5 day old calves?

Surely removing these newborn calves from their mothers at approximately 12hrs old is sinister enough, not to mention carting them off to saleyards and of course slaughterhouses at the tender, vulnerable age of 4-5 days old.  But to deny these newborn calves feed for up to 30hrs during the process, is simply unconscionable.

Dairy Australia's own research found that the welfare of bobby calves begins to deteriorate from 24hrs off feed, and that is if conditions are ideal.

The University of Melbourne’s (Australia) so called ‘scientific research’ which was carried out in 2009/2010 to ‘prove’ that newborn calves do ‘not’ deteriorate when denied feed for up to 30hrs, is far from acceptable. In fact it could be said that these ‘tests’ were carried out using healthy bobby calves, not calves that would normally be trucked for slaughter. Also the tests were conducted in reasonable weather conditions, not conditions which bobby calves would be forced to endure when trucked from farm, saleyards and then to abattoirs.

The proposal to deny newborn calves feed for up to 30hrs is based purely on economic benefit, and has nothing to do with animal welfare.  Australia claims to have the ‘best animal welfare practices in the world’, however this disturbing proposal clearly shows that this is simply untrue.

I ask that this submission be rejected.

Yours sincerely
